Delft Polychrome Tiles, featuring 18th century children playing games. These collectible figural tiles are beautifully made. Hand painted tin glazes decorate each early earthenware piece. The special character of the Delft earthenware was produced by their unique, secret tin glaze, giving each hand made piece its gloss and brilliance.
Avidly collected, each antique and vintage piece is a true luxurious treasure, there are collectors who prize this much higher than the Delft Blue due to the vibrant colors used by the artists. Each tile portrays a scene from childhood game, doing somersaults, walking on stilts, riding a toy horse, and visiting pet birds, in French country colors of blue, yellow, green, brown, pink and red. One tile has a small corner damage as shown. Sold in a set of four.
