This exceptional pattern by Aynsley was first introduced in the 1930s. This C746 pattern is from the 1940s, this is the Athens shape. It is signed by the artist on the cup and saucer N. Brunt. Nancy Brunt worked at the Aynsley factory from 1935-75. The pattern was made by painting on the transfer pattern by hand by the artist. The colors are luscious, reflecting harvest time. Gorgeous fruit, peaches, grapes, plums and black or bramble berries in colors of purple, lavender, pink, green, red, brown, and golden yellow makes this set so extremely collectable.
The background features grasses, branches, and filberts or hazelnuts. If you are a kindred autumn lover, you will love this cup. The gilt wash inside the cup and on the center of the saucer was all hand applied, stunning! This decorative set is in good used condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs, but it is not new. The gold wash has minimal usuage speckle marks. Both pieces have the Aynsley back stamp. Measures: Cup: 4" x 5" x 2~3/4"h; Saucer: 5~3/4".
