Antique Double Fan Quadruple plated Victorian Aesthetic Napkin Ring, made by the Meriden Silver Co. in 1880. This is a lovely and rare to find American figural napkin ring, the luxury detailed holder or ring is resting over a butterfly, flanked by 2 Asian Oriental fans which have a decorative bird design. Beautifully detailed, the napkin ring has a detailed floral band, the square bottom has a leaf garland design.
Everything collectors love about 19th century Victorian collectable rings, the design and motifs reflect the Aesthetic movement and the great interest in Orientalia at the time. This was shown in "Figural Napkin Rings: Collector's Identification" by Gottschalk and Whitson. In good antique condition, one side of the ring is slightly out of round after generations of use, there is some wear as is to be expected. Engraved on the top with M. W. A lovely addition to your collection, or to hold your napkin at the table, or by the fire on a tray with your tea.
