Antique French Ormolu Religious Crown Tiara, with faceted stones meant to resemble diamonds and one rose pink colored large stone, set in a decorative gilt metal crown. Crowns with pink stones are more rare to find then the other stone colors. The crown originates from Paris and dates towards 1860. This is a full sized crown, or corona, intended to grace statue of the Virgin Mary. The scrolling frame is formed from gilded brass and was fashioned by a fine craftsman in a Parisian atelier which specialized in beautiful religious adornments.
The gilded body has intricate 'cisele' or hand-cut embellishments. A single row of bezel set clear stones make up the band which rests on the head of the Madonna, the rest of the collectible crown is embellished with more clear stones and then the one large Rose Pink stone. The crown itself is a true work of art, gilded scrolls form a wide and elegant design, the band has five adjustable settings so that it could have fit several sizes of statues in churches or cathedrals in France.
