Antique French Glass Apothecary Jar with applied paper label, Eau de Cologne Bouquet, perfect as a decorative accent, or as a vase to hold flower cuttings from the garden. Large jars like this kept small fragrant soaps or little glass pipettes filled with scent fresh, they were sold in pharmacies in France. The label has an art nouveau floral design, it has tears and wear as shown.
The glass has straw marks and bubbles inside as the old glass does, an elegant shape with ground lip, heavy lid with knob, which is not original, it was no doubt "married" long ago, it covers the top but is not an exact fit. Beautiful to add to your collection of antique glass, perfect to display with your antique French jars, fill with your own French soaps to make a statement in your guest bathroom. Measures 11~1/4" x 5" in diameter.
