Antique, elegant and rare to find Sauce Boat with Underplate, beautifully handpainted in shades of Cream, Light Blue Green and Yellow. This is mold No. 627, featuring a graceful double handle and an exceptional elegant shape. Lightweight, translucent porcelain with small sprays of pink roses that cascade from the top of the sauce boat, the roses are joined with charming white daisies and feminine little leaves and branches, some are hand embellished with luxurious gilt. These were used long ago to serve a sauce for berries, or perhaps whipped cream.
A beautiful combination of Tiffany satin finish and lustre glazes make this glow just beautifully when the light reflects on it at a certain angle. Fine gilt detailing highlight the edges and delicately painted around the rims of the scallops of both plate and sauceboat. This is a lovely collectible piece to add to your collection of porcelain, it is in good antique condition. There is a little wear to the gilt, and some of the glit has darkened as shown in the lip of the pitcher, no doubt cause by something acidic being served and not cleaned correctly immediately after using. Marked on the bottom Rs Prussia.
