Delightful and very collectable Antique Choisy Le Roi Faience Earthenware Story Plates, in a set of six, depicting Langage des Fleurs. Each of these pottery plates have crisp black & white transfer printed illustrations surrounded by a blue floral border. Story plates, or "Assiettes Parlantes" {talking plates} were quite popular and produced by many fine faience houses in the mid to late 1800's.

These six illustrate the Language of Flowers in a humorous manner. Considered "fine" plates, which refers to the ability of the transfer process to replicate rather finely drawn images, each one portrays the giving of flowers, at times by young men to their beloved, a bride and her groom, farmers, a gardener, officer, and a mother and naughty child.

Decorative addition to your collection of Blue & White, perfect to display on a wall, and a luxury gift to someone you love who adores rare French faience plates. Marked y HB Choisy, one of the plates has some damage on the front as shown, this doesn't bother me, but please only purchase this set if you can love it as is.  A lovely set, great theme and perfect as decorative accents! Measure: 6~1/2".
