With all the charm of the French countryside, this large Antique French Transfer Centerpiece Bowl has a decorative Blue Floral pattern encircling the rim, so beautiful! This shallow bowl comes from the Provence area, where it served a family for decades as the centerpiece on their dining room table, most often filled with fruit, but sometimes, in summer, with fragrant roses or heaps of ripe cherries.
Made in the late 1800's, I have not been able to track down the design, nor the manufacturer as it is not marked as many early pieces were not. Rare to acquire a large sized bowl like this, most are much smaller, a fantastic piece to add to your collection, to display on the center of your table, or to fill with the day's fresh vegetables in your kitchen. Perfectly happy to serve up your world renowned Pasta or Salade Nicoise, too. Measures 11~3/4" x 2"h.
