Decorative collectable floral Compotier, or footed compote, cake pedestal, in a gorgeous French Blue Transferware pattern. I love antique stands like this, they are just as happy to display your world famous birthday cake as appetizers, cheese, fruit, or simply hold an arrangement of shells as a centerpiece. This lovely was made in France, in the mid to late 1800's. The pattern is a French Country mixed flower garland design, with embossed wicker design on the foot of the stand.
From an estate collector, made of cream earthenware with a gloss glaze, the transfers are crisp and beautifully detailed, the rim has a slight scallop edge. In good condition for its age, this pattern is sought out by collectors for the country provencial charm. A gracious addition to your collection of luxury French faience, or to begin one. Makes an amazing host or hostess gift when presented with a lemon pound cake! Craquelure as you would expect of a piece of this age, and one edge chip as shown, I love signs of patina and use, please only purchase this for your collection if you do, too. Measures 9~1/4" x 4~5/8"h.
