Antique French Walnut Napoleon III Pétanque Ball, used long ago to play Pétanque, the French equivalent of Boccé. Made from walnut and dating to the 1870's, each of these balls is unique, with the patina of time. They have a storied past, filled with wagers, victories and defeat, a part of French history. From France, we found two sizes, medium and large, since they are hand carved, they will vary slightly.
Some have old worm holes, all are beautifully-patinated from years of use. Use them as decorative objects, piled high in an antique wood bowl, or lined up on your table or mantel {use curtain rings as stands to keep them from rolling away.} In lovely antique condition, they all have a dings and wear, which is what we love. Newly cleaned and oiled, so that the beauty of the wood shines through.
