Stunning 20th century decorative French Monteith Bowl or footed compote, with a graceful design and Black ground with gold tole peinte decoration of grape leaves decorating the body of the piece. Pieces like this were originally designed to dry wine glasses after rinsing, between dinner courses, with the stems resting in each "cut out", or to chill the glasses in very cold or iced water.
Gorgeous luxury addition to your collection of French toleware, this is signed on the bottom. Good vintage condition, with some wear as is to be expected.
