This beautiful Pitcher or Jug was made by Reed & Barton Silver Company of Taunton, Massachusetts, the company began producing exquisite sterling, silver plate and britannia ware in 1824.
The frame is high quality silver plate, with an elegant design, colums with scroll work and crosshatched detailing. The understated design beautifully showcases the round sides of the carafe, the carafe has a rounded bottom which sits in the frame. I am not sure if this was a claret jug, or a small water jug, but I am sure that it is a lovely piece to add to your table, or your collection of exquisite silver plated pieces. When not in service, this pitcher will display beautifully on your sideboard or hutch. Measures 9~7/8" h x 5~1/2" x 3~1/2". In excellent condition, marked Reed Barton EPNS 5548S 12~1/2 oz.
