Exceptional luxury quality, this beautiful four piece Dessert service was made by the prestigious silversmith Emille Puiforcat, 16 rue Chapon, Paris in 1860. Now owned by Hermes, Puiforcat is one of the handful of French silversmiths that have attained worldwide recognition for their long heritage, and their reputation for timeless patterns, heirloom investment quality,  and unrivaled craftsmanship.

This fine quality set includes two elegantly pierced serving spoons, a flat server and a fork. The ornate handles feature decorative Napoleon III classical foliate and floral designs. Sets like this were used at the most exclusive tables in France, the spoons could be used as sugar sifters, the flat server to serve petit patisserie, and the fork for fruit. But sets like this were equally useful for hors d'ouevres, with the fork used for saucisson, the spoons for olives and gherkins.

Hallmarked sterling silver on the blades, tines & bowls, and again marked on each handle. Each part has the post 1838 French Minerva 1st standard hallmark {.950 purity silver.} The silversmith marks on all of the bowls and tines are "EP" for the House of Puiforcat {Emile Puiforcat}, Head of Minerve first titre for 950/1000 French sterling silver guarantee. In good condition with slight surface scuffs commensurate with the age of these outstanding pieces. Set of 4.
