This magnificent unmarked Luneville French Barbotine Faience {Majolica}  Asparagus Cradle Server, circa mid 19th century, is a spectacular addition to any collection of Majolica. Modeled to resemble a bed of leaves {most likely country Kale} with White Asparagus on top, their lovely tips a Lavender Purple Blue color. Completely hand painted, each one of these when made was an original work of art.

The first Luneville factory was established in France by Jacques Chambrette in 1728, the Keller and Guerin family purchased the factory in the mid 1800's and produced many colorful plates and serving pieces decorated with asparagus and artichokes.
