Stunning Estate Black Transferware Plate made by John Dimmock & Co of Albion Works, Stafford Street, Hanley, Stoke on Trent, England in 1879. The pattern is Florentine, and it features fantastic, crisp transfer images of birds, wild flowers, a bucolic river scene with a castle, and a marsh bird surrounded by grasses and wild Lilies.
Great geometric edge, Victorian Aesthetic design at its best! Generally I don't fall for pottery with a flaw, but the design on this is so rare to find, I bought it with an old hairline on one side as shown ~ priced accordingly. Perfect to display with your collection, or to begin one, set on a plate stand on your mantel or shelves, or hang on the wall as a decorative accent. Measures 9~5/8".
