Child's Transferware Tea Set Trio originally made as a toy for doll’s tea parties and children’s tea time play. The ironstone set is transfer printed in a rich chocolate brown or sepia, decorated with a late Romantic period pattern called ‘MYCENE’ or ‘MYCENAE’, a Greek classical design with a formal garden. A footed double handled Grecian urn surrounded by abundant flowers, trees and a river with men in a boat, mountains and beautiful castle or manor house.
The border is a quite ornate sawtooth border with seashells, ribbons, urns, and musical instruments. So sweet to add to your collection of trios, or to use in a display of your French & German antique Dolls and Bears. Made by William Alsager Adderley, Staffordshire, England, ca. 1880.
Measures: Plate-5-5/8", Saucer-4-1/2", cup-2-1/8" h.
