Exquisite presentation of Jesus Christ, on a wonderfully magnificent and a rare colored Cross. The Cross is completely covered with royal blue velvet, hand sewn, as a luxurious background. The silverplated cross is embellished with 19th century Gothic gilt trim, and a fleur de lis at each end. The font is beautifully ornate with a fluted scalloped bowl for the holy water. The corpus is sliver plated, and wonderfully detailed.
Dates to late 1800's, early 1900's, this is from a French home chapel. Of note, one of Jesus's hands is missing a portion, and one arm has been repaired long ago, as shown in the photographs below. At one time, a hook was added to the top to enable this to be hung. A fantastic find for your religious collection.
