Handsome and charming Antique Austrian Cold Painted Spaniel Dogs Pin Cushion from the 19th century. Figural sewing accessories were beloved in the late 1800's, and avidly collected today. Cast in metal, these two were then hand painted, pairs of animals are rarer to find. Not perfect, they have been loved and used by generations of seamstresses in the family. {While they are not best in show material, they are really good dogs.}

One has a fissure on a leg, which does not go all the way through, and his poor little tail is missing. There is wear to the original paint as shown, particularly to the basket which is what was touched when using. The basket has wool inside, and is topped with a faded red fabric cushion for the pins.
