Vintage Art Deco Luggage Label from the famed Baker Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Unused, and a fabulous addition to your Hotel Collection!
The Baker Hotel stood on the corner of Commerce and Akard Streets in the heart of downtown Dallas, built in 1925 by T.C.Baker, the Baker Hotel Company. The Baker was the home of WFAA radio, the Peacock Terrace, Crystal Ballroom, and the place to play on Texas-OU weekends. Its ballrooms were used for debutantes, movie stars, and society members.
The Peacock Terrace Ballroom opened in 1925, and the big name swing bands of the 20s and 30s played for Dallas socialites. The Idlewild Ball for Debutantes was held annually in the Crystal Ballroom. The Petroleum Club met at the Baker. After being sold and rebuilt several times, the Baker was imploded in 1980. I display one of these tags on an antique leather suitcase in our hallway.
