Stunning set of 19th Century Copeland Spode Japonesque Lapis Lazuli Blue Plates, a set of 11 dinner plates. Made in 1891 by Copeland Spode, one of the oldest and most distinguished of the great pottery companies of Staffordshire, England. The Imari influenced design features flowers, fruit and a gilded royal bird in the center. Marked with pattern number R6884 in iron red and the printed Spode Copeland mark.

Each plate has beautiful gold highlights on the scalloped rims, and in the center, which really highlights the gorgeous "Lapis Lazuli" Spode was so famous for in the 1800's. The colored inset cameos have hand enameled colors. In excellent condition, all the same colors, with very light wear to some gilding on dishes commensurate with age and use. A rare to find set, Spode plates become heirlooms, a timeless addition to your family’s table.

  • 11 plates 9" { the standard dinner size in the 1800's}
