Antique French Brass Token for a Basketmaker in Paris, Etienne Coudy, who had his "vannerie" or basket making stall on the Rue St. Denis from 1870 - 1880. Mr. Coudy made wicker baskets of all sizes, according to historical records.
I'm not 100 % sure what tokens like this were used for, other tokens were used to pay for merchandise or services during this time. {A pre-cursor to a gift card?} This token was engraved by Thévenon et Cie, Engravers, of Rue Montmorency 39, Paris, France. A fun little decorative object to display, filled with the history of Paris.
