19th Century Flow Blue Serving Tureen with Lid, with a Chinoiserie design in deep cobalt blue on the pristine white. Made by W Grindley, who founded the pottery in 1880 with Alfred Meakin and another partner. The mark indicates this piece was made in the 1880's.
The design features a countryside scene around the perimeter of the bowl, and on the lid. There is a kiln tiny dot of clay on the lid as shown, not unusual in the earlier pieces. A wonderful addition to your collection of antique flow blue.
