Vintage Georg Plischke Scherensnitte Place Card Holders and Cards, inspired by the artist's work. Born in Silesia in 1883, Georg obtained a Phd. and taught, he gave up his career to only make art. His first gallery show with his paper art was in the early 1920's, by 1925 he published books. In 1927 he became world famous for post cards, featuring some of these very figures on this set.
This set is from the mid 1900's, it is made of a mat black earlier plastic combination, the original 12 name cards are in the box, although slightly aged. A very charming set, use them as place cards, or for a birthday party. I love the idea of some of these sprinkled around with scripture, or with antique toy collection and dolls.
