Beautiful Antique Sterling Silver Ladies Evening Purse - Compact. This is such an unusual one, an older version with leather inserts. So sweet, there is a little leather pouch on one side that still retains the smallest little round powder puff, and the other side has a mirror. Made by the Watrous Co. in the late 1800's.
The front has an ornate flower design, the center is engraved with M L B. Inside, on the back of the mirror a young woman has written her own name, Jessie Ohman, Belleview, Nebraska. Whether Jessie inherited it long ago from her mama or perhaps grandmama, I don't know, but I'd like to imagine she did and cherished this. The original chain is still attached. A delight and more rare to find with the leather inserts.
