A favorite recent find, these Antique French Bonbon Hand Painted Pink Boxes are extraordinary! Chocolate bonbons were so precious in the 1800's, they were sold by the finest chocolatiers in beautifully made boxes. These pink boxes are sturdy, they feel like wood but are actually very heavy cardboard, covered in a thin painting canvas.
Bought in France, each one feature a different top scene, which is an etching which has been hand painted in. The rest of the boxes are hand painted with pink roses, blue ribbon bows and striped detailing. A petit box like this would have been extremely expensive, and these were often given to friends for New Year's. In fine condition for their age, a rare find! Sold separately, please choose one or both.
