1st Edition Antique Children's Book entitled Happy Children, by Mrs. Ella Farman Pratt, the editor of "Baby Land." From a private collection, this book is dated 1896, and is filled with 8 beautiful stories about childhood delights, and 8 full color chromolithograph illustrations, as well as monotone illustrations. The stories feature Miss Christmas, Peggy, Gretchen, Dorothy, Miss Patty, Rosette, Esther, and Little Hope. Books like this were costly, and often given as gifts for Christmas or Birthdays.
An oversized book, with 64 pages that are very clean, the binding is sturdy. The cloth binding is in good condition with some aging and soiling as is to be expected. One of the colored illustrations does have a tear about 1/3 of the way in, from that time that nanny forgot to put the book out of baby Isolde's chubby little hands. An exceptional addition to your collection!
