Stunning 19th Century Antique Majolica Large Footed Compote, either French or English. It is not marked, but has that luminous glaze that defines the deep forest green color, with a beautiful design of leaves. Thickly potted, has three stilt marks underneath as it should.
Good condition, one of the handles was restored by the collector, see last close-up. While I usually only buy perfect pieces, I forgave this due to this being so rare to find in this large size. {Pls. only adopt if you can live with the restoration.} A stunning addition to your collection of antique French and English Majolica plates, platters and bowls.
