An early 19th Century pre-Victorian Pearlware flat-back pottery Antique Staffordshire Figure of Girl, Dog and Sheep Spill Vase. This early piece was hand colored and modeled as a young girl seated with her little black and white dog and a sheep. The tree stump has bocage greenery. How charming is this?
There is such a naive look to this, almost childlike, which I love. There is craquelure and patina and age as shown. Unmarked, like most Staffordshire figures produced between 1740 and 1900.
