Stunning and oversized, this Antique English Ironstone Huge Jar with Crown Handles certainly will be the king or queen of your antique ironstone collection!  Exceptionally large, huge jars like this were meant to be used by the upstairs maid for pouring in the used hot water from the mistress's bedroom wash basin to carry downstairs {!!} and dispose of.

This large size is fairly rare to find, which does not surprise when the weight of it without water is already substantial. Made by brothers James and George Meakin, of Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England, who began their pottery in 1853. This piece dates to the 1890's. Exquisite condition, from a collector no doubt, the crown handles and sheer size make this one special.

  • Measures 13-1/2"h x 12" diameter.
