Exquisite Antique Carved French Rococo Gilt Wood Mirror with a crest on the top and carved naturalistic details surrounding the glass. Dates to the early 19th century, and has a deep projecting top. Stunning aged patina, with all the signs of age you want to see. Of note, some old worm holes, and one repair done decades ago.
Each one hand carved by a master carver, with exuberant rocaille crests at the top flanked by foliate scrolls at the corners, and more rocaille carving at the bottom. The gilt has darkened over the centuries to a deep dark gold. The original mirrors are present and have aged to that indescribable mottled grey. We love them the way they are, you could have them replaced should you wish. Sold per mirror, we have two.
