Pair of French Zinc Flame Finials, these are beautiful. Zinc was a popular roofing material in Belgium and France throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Molded into architectural forms, roof finials, window surrounds and columns, because zinc was light, and rust proof.
These two finials have a soft weathered grey patina. Made from sheet zinc, they have open plinth bases, step turned columns, fluted orbs and gorgeous flame finials. Freestanding, with beautifully detailed eternal flames on the top. So rare to find, worthy of gracing a Château or petite Château. In good condition, each has its own weathering and personality. Display indoors or outside in the garden, even if you don't own your very own Château.
