Fantastic 19th Century White Ironstone Meat or Fish Platter Drain or drainer. A wonderful and decorative oval platter drain that would be placed on a large platter for the excess juices of the fish or meat to drain into the platter below at the table. The drainer has a raised rim and is pierced with small holes, the larger central hole is used to lift the drainer from the platter.
Made in the latter 1800's, these larger drainers in oval shape are getting quite rare to find. A fantastic piece to add to your antique French, English and Continental white ware and strainers / drainers collection. Highly collectable , these look wonderful displayed in a group as shown in the last or used as a serving trivet at the table.
