Absolutely adorable, this copper watering can is quite small, it is wonderfully crafted, a fine quality watering can meant to water small plants. We have not polished because of the wonderful patina it's acquired over time. This could have been used by a child too. A decorative treasure for your collection of gardening tools and watering cans. Has aging and dents that you would expect of a useful item like this, we love that it has a history.
In the early 1900's, small blooming plants were highly prized and collected by many an avid gardener in his or her home and greenhouse. Displayed with great pride, entered in competitions and doted over. A little can like this would be filled with water, let "stand" a few days, then used carefully to water plants, taking care not to allow any water to drip on the leaves, to avoid damaging them. A thrill to find, display this with your antique gardening books, or use for your plants.
