19th Century French Ironstone Toothbrush or Razor Holder with lid and finial. That this has survived since the mid 1800's in this condition is a tribute to the family's care for their family heirlooms. The lid has a finial in the shape of a courgette, or squash.
Inside, a little divider to keep the toothbrush or razor on it's edge. The lid has piercings so that any water had a chance to evaporate. A charming addition to your collection of French ironstone. There is wear, patina, aging, and several stories about mornings spent over a tiny sink in the French country side, no doubt.
