Valentine’s Breakfast for Two Table

I am so excited to share my Valentine’s Breakfast for Two Table with you today! This table has all the love, style and sweetness you need to show someone how special they are to you.

For Valentine’s Day, I set the little round table in the master bedroom for breakfast. Next to the fire, it is a lovely way to begin the day with Mr. FrenchGardenHouse. {Since I set the table, I’m hoping he will make the breakfast! That’s only fair, right?!}

Valentine's Breakfast for Two Table

Welcome to Monday Morning Blooms! The Valentine’s edition. My friends Mary, Pam and Shirley and I are so happy you are here! I’ll share their links at the bottom of this post so be sure to visit them and get inspired.

Monday Morning BLooms

A few posts back, a new reader asked me if I just moved furniture around for blog posts in our home? The answer is yes and no. : )  The sitting area of our master bedroom with the fireplace is big enough for a table. Because our home isn’t huge, I like to use every single place I can for special occasions. And, I like to move things around for a change of pace! So NO, it’s not just for blog posts….it’s for using every inch of space here at FrenchGardenHouse when I can.

This past Christmas, I had a special “little people only” tea party by the tree in the master bedroom.  Because “the grown-ups” were in the living room. It was so much fun, that it will probably become another FrenchGardenHouse holiday tradition. So, see what I mean? Use every available space to spark magic and joy in your days!

Let’s start with the table setting. I started with this beautiful navy blue ruffled linen tablecloth. Our room has plenty of antique blue and white, so the navy echoes the accents in the decor.

Romantic Breakfast

I decorated the mantel with a few of our latest spring Les Belles Fleurs faux florals {full collection coming soon!}, and a few nostalgic milk glass pieces.  The chocolates canister has hand painted roses, the covered box features two sweet love birds.

I layered a dusty pink linen runner down the middle. Since I wanted more of the blue to show, my grandmother’s pearls cinch the runner in the middle.  Anytime I can use things that my grandmother left me in our home, I do. She would approve, I’m sure of it! For the place settings, I used these Limoges porcelain plates.  They have the prettiest little blue forget me not flowers on them, and gilt rims.

Use beautiful linen napkins to give your table a little pop.  These ruffled dusty pink napkins add all the romance this table needs. They come in sets of four, I like to order at least eight napkins of any kind. The little vintage glasses have a ruby flashed rim, they are perfect for fresh squeezed orange juice.

The vintage ruby flashed footed server is just big enough for a couple of fresh baked rolls. Just in case we want to have tea here later, I’ve set up an antique silver plated tea service in the book case.  A platter underneath will make sure the tea doesn’t drip on the books or the bookcase.

A romantic Breakfast

Details make all the difference, so at each place setting I used these tiny vintage Valentine’s Day favor cups, and filled them with our favorite chocolates. {breakfast or no, it IS Valentine’s day!} The vintage RESERVED sign is a fun touch.

About the flowers.  I was thrilled to find my favorite pink roses, and these pretty apricot spray roses too. But what really made me giddy was the little bunches of helleborous. I’ve never seen those sold as cut flowers here in California before. So I bought 2 tiny bunches for this arrangement.

I often think I’m cheating on these Monday Morning Blooms, because, honestly, I just cut the stems at an angle, and place the flowers in a vase. In this case an antique crystal etched pitcher with a sterling silver band. It’s not really floral design, is it? But that is the beauty of flowers, they do all the work. No need to be fussy, just cut, and arrange in water = perfection!

  1. So many beautiful and sweet details in your breakfast table for two Lidy! I love the idea (and am envious) of your space to set up a table in your bedroom by the fireplace. Your plates, ruby rimmed glasses and compote, beautiful silver and sweet vintage Valentine favor cups speak to my vintage-loving heart. I would have been giddy too, to find cut Lenten Roses! As always it’s a treat to join you for some flower therapy. Happy February <3

    1. Thank you so much, Mary. Happy February, dear friend. xo

  2. Lidy, I love your floral arrangement, and that you mixed regular roses with spray roses makes it all the more beautiful. I would be giddy also if I found hellebores in bundles to buy! I have some growing in my garden that are purple.
I love how you cinched your grandmother’s pearls around the table runner. That was clever and so effective. How lovely the forget me not Limoges plates are and special that they were your grandmother’s.
Your table details and lovely background was a treat today.

  3. Good morning Lidy. I am quite envious of your fireplace in the bedroom, how perfect for a table set for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The flowers are beautiful and what a thrill to find Lenten roses, I have never seen them offered as a cut flower. The Limoges plates and Ruby rimmed glasses are oh so lovely. The favor cups add the perfect sweetness to your table for two. I love the scripture you used, your graphics are always stunning. It is always a pleasure to join your for Monday Morning Blooms. Happy February!

It will have to happen in the den if I chose to have a fire going in the fireplace. But of course it would be perfect if the tv was removed and I had the beautiful blue and white Limoges plates to use. The ruffled napkins would be a great help and Roses roses roses. I must get busy.

    1. Alice, no matter where you have it, it can be sweet! Happy February, friend.

  5. What a perfectly cozy and romantic spot Lidy! And how delightful to sit by the fire for a special occasion meal. The pink rose arrangement is lovely and paired with your grandmother’s pearls against the blue tablecloth, they really pop! Love the reserved sign, just like a fancy bistro! Happy February and have a lovely Valentine’s Day!

    1. Jenna, I love that, it’s a fancy “breakfast” bistro! Happy February, friend.

  6. Oui, c’était moi, asking about moving furniture around for blog posts in your home. Thank you for the response, I love the idea, practicality and beauty of your thought process. So often we are stuck in a paradigm and your creativity reignites our spark. I’m off to rearrange a few things and take others out of cupboards to enjoy.
    Merci beaucoup!

    1. I hope you will enjoy this beautiful month of February, Hetty! And do enjoy some of the beautiful things you have, out of the cupboards. : )

  7. Yes, your Grandmother is proud of you using her pretties and also using her beautiful techniques. I so love the table in front of the fireplace in your room. I can imagine your first cup of coffee with your love starting off the day. You are so right that flowers create the beauty…a simple vase of flowers is just as beautiful as an elaborate arrangement. Crushing on the Limoges. Yes, breakfast, lunch or dinner on Limoges is the best!…your Grandmother would say, now that’s a pretty way to use my pearls! I have never seen cut helleborous either…I actually have a pot of them on my front porch..they are weathering this cold well.
It is always a pleasure being with my Monday Morning Blooms friends.
    Have a fabulous day Lidy!

    1. It’s such a pleasure to share our special Monday Morning Blooms together, isn’t it? I think my Grandmother would love this idea…in her life, she would have had servants, of course. But I’m just happy to have a fireplace, a table, food, and someone to love!
