If you were half as inspired as I was yesterday, and the day before, then we all have our heads filled with beautiful holiday decorating ideas!  It was so. much. fun. to have you all over on Wednesday! Didn’t make it to visit our FrenchGardenHouse Holiday Tour? You can still come….I left the drinks station set up by the front door and am so happy to welcome YOU anytime!

I’m so excited to see what my friends have prepared for us today….

Yesterday, after chatting with all of you and visiting, Mr. FrenchGardenHouse and I put up the Christmas lights on our house, and arranged our beautiful garlands on the white picket fence outside the front garden. I am almost done, all that I still need to do is buy fresh greens, but that won’t be until a week or two before Christmas. I’ll try to take a photo to share, although I’m not sure how photographing outside in the dark works!

In the meantime, I also unpacked a small collection of antique French Country kitchen antiques I bought, photographed them, and told their stories! This French Moutarde pot, or mustard pot, has the name of the “vinaigrier” in Paris on it. I imagine buying this in a small shop on some chic “RUE” in Paris, on a cold wintery day, to take home and serve with the cheese course at dinner.

I love each beautiful piece of antique French pottery, I can only imagine what delicious meals were created in their presence long ago!  These little antique confiture pots were used to make jam, or preserves in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s.

And every country kitchen {grand chateau’s too, below stairs!} had one of these enamelware Allumettes…or matches box. They hung on the wall, aren’t they so charming?

Another, somewhat older Moutarde container, this one without a name. All of these are in the holiday spirit, and they could tell a  holiday story anywhere, with the simple addition of a sprig of evergreen, some small pinecones, or a candle. That’s what I love most, decorating our home with antiques, and just dressing them up a little bit for the holidays!
