I’ll admit I’ve had a long standing love affair with bags {purses or pocketbooks} – ever since my grandfather bought me a little blue leather purse when I turned 5 so I could take a handkerchief with me to church. My grandmother gifted me a tiny little glass bottle of eau de cologne, and with these two tucked in my little bag, I felt like a princess and very grown up!
Over the years I’ve owned a collection of hand bags, always buying bags that were classics, the best I could afford. Several years ago, I fell in love with the most unusual bags made by a mother-daughter team here in California. I’m so excited to be able to offer a collection of my curated fall choices from their line. Today I’m introducing these beauties to you! I hope you will love them as much as I do.
The workroom for the mother and daughter design team is in our corner of California. All their bags are lovingly hand cut, and hand made in the United States. Founded in 1990, they design bags with fresh silhouettes, daring blends of fabrics, and handmade embellishments to harmonize to evoke each season’s design moments.
They strive to source fabrics from U.S. mills, which contributes to the “USA-made” ethos. The bags are made in small quantities so that every design is essentially a limited edition. Their usual production runs are four to 12 of a kind at a time. Each bag is cut, sewn, trimmed, decorated and packaged by hand in-house, which assures quality, attention to detail and uniqueness. Keeping production in-house actually allows them to use more expensive fabrics by ensuring care is taken to minimize waste. I love their enthusiasm for their bags – these bags are just right for you if you are wonderfully chic, stylish, and a little daring!
Finishing Touch | In the Bag
These bags have beautiful leather top handles, and a removable, adjustable crossbody strap. Inside, they have a zippered pocket and two separated pockets for your cell phone and keys. The larger Santa Barbara is made from from beautiful woven jacquard fabric, with leather handles, and a detachable crossbody strap so you can take it anywhere with style. A bigger bag, it closes with a zipper and the metal feet keep it protected. It’s fully lined with water resistant taffeta.
Each bag is exquisitely made by hand and individually constructed in California with the highest-quality materials. The stunning Southern Blue Bag has a full zipper closure, a detachable adjustable cross body strap in leather and rounded metal feet to protect the bottom. How stunning is this blue fabric, with a beautiful South West design? The high quality fabric is a jacquard woven in the USA.
Because so many of you love a soft, seasonal paisley, this Autumn Paisley Bag is an open tote with a magnetic closure and a large zippered inner bag {12” x10” x 3”}. The timeless print in soft, warm tones has a casual stone-washed finish, combined with a classic herringbone fabric, this has it all, beauty and so useable! It’s an open tote with a magnetic closure and a large detachable interior pouch. Both pieces are fully lined with water resistant taffeta. My friend who is an avid knitter uses this bag to take her knitting projects and wools with her wherever she goes.
