Best Savory and Sweet Crostini for Fall

So easy, this really is the Best Savory and Sweet Crostini for Fall.

Fellow Fall lovers, this is a treat that I’m dedicating to all my girlfriends who adore summer. For us, summer is just a way to get to our favorite season, but some of my friends mourn when summer is over. {I still love them!} This appetizer combines the best of two worlds, summer’s sweet peaches, a little kick from jalapenos, married to toasted French baguettes to create the Best Savory and Sweet Crostini for Fall.

I’m planning a fun get-together serving cocktails, appetizers and a soup around the fire while the weather is still relatively mild in the evenings. It’s so easy to make with one of our mixes from the Appetizer Cheeseball Entertaining Set. Making super easy appetizers for a party, dinner or any kind of gathering is actually why I started using the mixes in the first place. Because I am all about making something easy, delicious, and getting together with people I adore to celebrate the day!

This is perfect for one of your famous girls get togethers.  It begins with beautiful French baguettes. Like the kind we eat in Paris. Luckily, pretty much every local baker or market baker here back home has learned to make a good French baguette.  So go out and buy the most delicious, freshest one you can.  Thank goodness there are also gluten-free baguettes for those of us who can’t have wheat! Not quite as great as a regular baguette, but I’ll take it!

The recipe is super easy because it basically involves slicing the bread in thin slices. You then either grill them or bake in the oven to make crostinis. {the little baked toasts you make from the French baguettes.}

I love these with a small spoon of peach preserves on the top.  The mix has a little kick, not too spicy, but the preserves adds just the right amount of sweetness to each little appetizer.  Since peaches are not in season, this appetizer is meant to remind you of the fresh peaches you can buy at markets in the summer.  One of the things you should do if you go to France on a trip is visit the local market, you will never eat more delicious fresh vegetables and fruits, and this is such a great place to soak in the French culture!

Fresh rosemary is a great compliment to the flavor profile in this appetizer.  We grow ours in a little wooden crate with a few other herbs in the back garden.  It’s kind of fun to run out there while cooking to cut a few fresh herbs.

If Mr. FrenchGardenHouse had his way we’d have a thriving vegetable patch in the back garden. Unfortunately we haven’t figured out how to keep the squirrels from eating everything!  Somehow those squirrels don’t eat our herbs if they are in a small crate instead of a larger raised bed. So I happily have the herbs in that small contained tiny garden.

    What a lovely appetizer to enjoy with my gal pals. I will most likely serve these at a gathering when we get back to the desert. Perfect!
