Antique Transferware Plates, made by Longwy, of France, stunning in blue on cream colored ground. So beautiful and decorative, each plate features flowers, birds, and a scene of either sail boats, an old chateau, or French village in the background. Each plate is a collectable wonder with two larger birds on a branch in the foreground, and 7 birds flying down to visit. The images were based on 19th century copperplate engravings.
French aesthetic pottery at its best, this design is full of whimsy and just delightful. These plates are wonderful to set your table in French Country style, or to display in a hutch. They are in good antique condition, with the craquelure you should see in plates more than 100 years old. There are no chips or cracks...this is an amazing rare to find set of eight. Each plate measures 9-1/2" in diameter. Sold in a set of 8.
