Exceptional Antique Shellwork Box, in wonderful condition, this 19th century decorative box features beautiful shells on the lid and around the bottom. A variety of shells were used to create the artwork, it's rare to find these collectable boxes with almost all the shells intact, I see just one tiny shell missing. The box is covered with yellow and gold marbled paper.
Fantastic detailed design, this treasure has both a pink heart-shaped pin cushion and a scrap featuring a coastal scene with a fisherman and his wife, a mother holds a small child's hand as they wade into the ocean. Inside, there are divisions to store sewing notions. A fabulous addition to add to your collection of French shell antiques and sailor's valentines. In good antique condition, measures 7" x 5" x 3"h.
