French Fleamarkt Oil Painting depicting a landscape with trees and a chateau. Bought in France, this decorative painting is an original. Though not what I consider "great art" these fleamarket paintings are so charming, with thickly applied paint, great colors. A French country scene, painted on a canvas attached to a wood frame, I don't know the exact age, but my best guess is that it was painted in the early 1900's, 1920's or so.
The painter's style is very "naive", colors of blue, green, grey, black and brown. The canvas was nailed to the frame with large flat head nails. I imagine this painting stood outdoors along the Seine with its friends for awhile, the paint has crackeled over the century as shown. Paintings like this look amazing in groups. Please enlarge the photos, and please only purchase this piece if you love the relaxed shabby fleamarket style. There are spots where the paing has flaked off entirely. Measures 18" x 13"
