Antique Children's Book entitled Little Wide Awake Book Country Scenes, published by Dutton in 1881. A paper book that has seen better days, it was loved and read by children, the strip of paper that is usually glued over the hand sewn binding is missing. Not in great condition, but oh! Those colorful illustrations are what made me fall in love with this one. 6 glorious pages with the most beautiful illustrations of children working in the fields, in the garden, fishing, gathering water at the well, playing bat, trap and ball.
Please only buy this if you can fall in love with this treasure trove of Victorian daily pursuits as is, there are bits of corners missing, and little fingermarks have discolored the pages. You could use the prints or parts of them to frame, too, they are that charming. Period clothing, hay making, and the colorful chromolithgraphs are wonderful. Book measures 11" x 7-1/2", each top print measures 6" x 5".
