Exquisite Ruby Red Cut to Clear Bohemian Cheese Dome, displaying architectural engravings, a stag and a bird, and various patterned cartouches, flourishes, and borders in profusion. The cut and etched decoration is typical of Friedrich Ergermann's work, he was the inventor of the decorating technology. Friedrich Egermann (1777 - 1864) from Nový Bor, was a master at creating these motifs that he originated, chateau, shell, and stag.
This is a luminous piece of collectable fine quality art glass, with the ruby red color deep, like cranberry wine. Rare to find both pieces still together, there is an edge chip as shown, this doesn't bother me for an extremely rare to find piece of glass that was most likely used at the table for over a century. On the dome, there is a small area where the red is gone, not unusual in these early pieces, not a chip. I have enlarged photos greatly to show. This is high luxury for your fine glass collection, or to use on your special and holiday table. The quality is superb, the designs are crisp and perfectly done. A total WOW piece! Measures Dome: 5-1/4" x 5"h; Tray: 7" x 1-1/8"h
