Exceptionally beautiful, and expertly crafted, this high quality decorative Sterling Silver Tea Strainer features a wonderful Rose design. In the flowing style so indicative of the Art Nouveau period, the roses and buds are surrounded by swirling foliage. The pierced bowl is meant to be placed "over cup" while pouring your best Earl Grey into a guest's tea cup to catch any floating tea leaves. Made in the late 1800's to very early 1900's, the Art Nouveau period was relatively short, which makes art nouveau pieces rarer to find.
This heirloom was used and loved by a family for over a century. Marked STERLING and hallmarked for Simpson, Hall & Miller. The C1928 is the pattern number. A luxury for tea time, to present as a welcome gift to someone you love, or to add to your rose or sterling silver collection. Measures 6~7/8" x 3~1/3" x 1~1/2"h.
