Astoundingly beautiful early 19th century French Tapestries, each featuring a cherub surrounded by the elegant classical wreath motif. A fantastic large size, each was most likely used to cover a round deep seated bergere. These decorative lovelies date to 1820, they were acquired from a large chateau. Made with finest silk, the colors and the workmanship is amazing. Not perfect, there are seperations, these are most suited for framing. If you are going to have pillows made out of these, they will need to be backed, but if you are going to have them framed in giltwood frames, they should not need that.
I fell in love with them, and know that you will too! A pair like this at this price point is quite rare. Each measures 22" x 21". Sold as found, wear consistent with age and use.
