Absolutely breathtaking, this antique confection features all the things we lace enthusiasts love: delicate bobbin lace, cut work, satin stich embroidery, and the most beautiful net lace with a floral and vine pattern. As refined as it is beautiful, this is loomed of an exqisitely fine ecru "fil de lin" linen. Edged with the most romantic ruffles of net lace with a delicate pattern of flowers and flowing foliate vines that meander gracefully on the lace, appliqued on the top, this is superb lace work. The cutwork, bobbin lace inserts and the figural image of a young woman makes this piece over the top divine.
In good antique condition, there are a few areas in the net lace that have damage, as shown, and there are brides broken, and other areas that are not attached all the way. It doesn't bother me, this is a piece of lace making history, a beautiful design and excellent workmanship. You can re attatch if you are handy with a needle, I love this as is...the design is such that it is difficult to see the broken brides, the ruffle can hide the small area of damage. An excellent addition to your lace collection, this is a museum quality cloth. Measures 31" x 30", Lace ruffled border measures 6".
