Beautiful Antique French Trumeau Mirror with a lovely chromolithograph print of a darling young French courting couple. He, splendid in his Lavender Blue waistcoat, is tying the silk ribbon of her plumed hat. Trumeau mirrors were designed to be placed between windows or over mantles to reflect ambient light in the room long ago when houses had smaller windows.
The aged gold frame has a decorative ornate gilded gesso finish, and an ornate scrolled crest. Over the decades the corner pieces have gone missing, it is still there on just one corner. Te mirror has aging and a dark spot, and some parts of the gesso edge is gone. Never mind that, this is such a romantic, feminine mirror to add to your collection, but please enlarge the photographs to see. The perfect size that will fit in just about anywhere, the mirror has all the aging and charm you want to see in these older pieces. Measures 24-1/2" x 5-1/2" x 3/4".
