HERS Book giveaway!

A room should captivate while being inviting; it should not only be comfortable but should make you feel at your best.  Jacqueline de Montravel

This sentence truly stood out to me when I received my preview copy of this book.  HERS is a dreamy book, filled with inspiration for carving out a delightful space just for you, whether you translate that into a whole house design, or a little nook somewhere just for yourself.  It’s been out since just before the holidays, but since I received another delightful signed copy, I am excited to give it to one of YOU!

Whether you are happily single or a mother of four, having a room that pleases you is what we all long for. After all, what woman doesn’t want a modern, romantic, feminine, grown-up space that she can call her own—where she can listen to music and engross herself in the pages of Jane Austen?

Hers offers hundreds of stylish ways for creating your own private retreat, even when your bedroom doubles as your living room or when delicate furnishings don’t seem compatible with kid-friendly living. With some thoughtful rethinking of your home’s layout and some imagination, you can dedicate part of a shared space to your own interests, and Jacqueline deMontravel will show you how.

These interiors celebrate the beauty and comfort of feminine design with color, furniture shapes, and attractive accessories.  Not just in romantic or French style, all styles are celebrated by Jacqueline, this book is page after page of colorful inspiration you will want to look at again and again.

I am so blessed that our own home is featured in a few pages, our bedroom, below, my little office at home, and Mr. FrenchGardenHouse’s garden. { You can find us on pages: Title Page, 21, 164, 165,184, 185}

  18. Bonnie Jean Fulcher

I love the idea of a space of my own… a room … a corner… even just a desk or workspace with my own feminine touch and with all of the things I love the most close by. I would love to win this book. It looks beautiful just from the bits I have seen thus far. I live in a house full of three masculine pack rats… my hardworking husband and delightful sons… but I long for a bit of elegance and femininity and I need a push. This book would be just the push that I need and lots of great inspiration.

  19. I love French Garden House (you may know this!). I am intrigued by this book because it captures my thoughts about having a beautiful space of one’s own – even in a home full of ‘guys’. I also have another of Jacqueline de Montravel’s books, The Vintage Table, which is also a book to dream with while gathering around one’s precious objects.

  20. Chris Gerke

How is it possible that I have not been aware of French Garden House! Gorgeous.

  26. Patricia Anderson

My mother was unhappily married–which I understood at about age 5. She was extremely intelligent and had been teaching in a country schjool at about age 18.

We were together all day, and she taught me many thing. That is how we spent the days during the long days of winter, sitting under a quilt in her wicker rocker—close to the coal furnace.

It sounds as if I am from the last century–but when you have to deal with the cold, life becomes quite primitive.

She ordered miniatures of classical paintings. She talked about books, and she had my brother and me practise spelling words. We listened to opera on the radio on Saturdays. She told us the stories–I thought they had gone through a whole book in the musical introduction.

I gathered my taste when she told about how she would “like her house” I decorate my house as she told me her impossible dreams. Crystal chandeliers, French doors to an enclosed patio. Paintings by Boucher and…….
No shabby chic for me! I have been fortunate to “find items in second hand shops, antique shops, and rarely but sometimes “new”.

My taste is not widely appreciated in my neighborhood. BUT I didn’t do it to please them –just my mother and Me”

  27. Does it get any more beautiful? So many dreamy ideas! Love it!

  28. I have been following you on FB for quite some time. Love your blog. This book has the same qualities as your blog. I would love to win a copy.

  31. Sharon Sheehy

My Irish grandmother use to always talk about “the days gone by,” how sweet and beautiful were her sentiments to me of romance and beauty in the little things she would share. Your website, and this book reminds me so much of what she spoke of, and brings to life with such vivid color all that captured my heart as I hung on every word as she spoke. She had a collection of plates, none of which matched, but they all came together with unsurpassed beauty as she would go about setting her table for her guests. Her little china cabinet was full of her favorite things which always delighted me every time I came to visit. Your website, and I have a feeling this book as well, reminds me of her china cabinet…every time I open up and look at all the precious things being offered, it takes me back “to days gone by!” Thank you!
