Eleven Essential Accessories for Living the Good Life Al Fresco

Essentials Al Fresco1

Sun. A slight breeze. A garden or beach front deck. Your best friends. Your family. Is there any better way to spend an afternoon or evening together than to entertain al fresco?

Here are my favorite ways to add some summer fun to your entertaining style and outdoor table settings.

Statement Piece. I love these oversized metal urns for making a grand statement. Fabulous “old world” design, but won’t break your bank {you’ll have enough left over to serve champagne, shrimp, lobster and a French dessert}, just pop in a potted hydrangea for an instant designer centerpiece that will wow.

Summer Sips.  Tote your favorite bottle of summer wine, and a few glasses to your deck or garden with one of our antique French Bottle Holders. Stylish & practical.

One of my current favorites? Channing Daughters’ Rosati di Sculpture Garden , grown in Bridgehampton, in a field blend – everything was planted, grown, picked, processed and fermented together. It has a gorgeous light coppery pink hue…merlot based but with a wild edge including bramble fruit and spice, floral, herbs.  The perfect wine for drinking outdoors,  versatile at your table…from tomatoes Provencal to grilled ribeye to local bluefish. winechanningdaughters

Casual French. Set your outdoors tables with a mix of antique and new French themed dishes, glasses and linens. Casual, elegant, the way we entertain today.

  1. Hi Lidy, I could have a lovely afternoon on your lovely patio, it is decked out for a Queen. Blue and white is my favorite, I love the splash of red. Have an amazing day. Jo

I ordered four of the urns for our farmhouse. Maybe once I love those like I think I will, I’ll add a few for our city home too. Old, new, you always have the most exceptional design pieces for our homes. Thanks for the tips on where to stay in Belgium, too!

Absolutely love your outdoor setting. Have ordered dishes, do you think you will get anything else in Red, white and blue before the 4th?

    1. Dorian, I think most things in Red, White and Blue are on the site. I emailed you a few photos of some great antique fabrics to see if they will work with your entertaining scheme at your Bainbridge Island home.

  4. That apron is just divine! I have a love for red and aprons, so that one has my name all over it! 🙂

  5. Oh Lidy! When my backyard grows up it wants to be just like yours! I am smitten with those French Amour glasses. They are gorgeous!

  6. I love the ENTIRE look!!! I am especially smitten with the bowls at each place setting (are those cafe au lait bowls???). Casual entertaining, with some French flair, is my absolute favorite way to spend time outdoors.
    Best,
    Michelle
P.S. I began following you through Bloglovin’.

    1. Thanks so much, Michelle! Yes, the bowls are all large Cafe au Lait Bols, I use them for everything.

  7. I think I’ll be looking for that bottle of wine you suggested. It sounds wonderful!

Beautiful post as always, my sweet friend 🙂

  8. I love the red, white, blue theme. The linen towels with blue and red stripe are my favorite.. I have some antique ones from my mother n’law. So glad that they are re-surfacing. I have many old white bedspreads, that I can not part with, cutting them down to be used for a tablecloth is a wonderful idea.. thank you! I love white because you can bleach it if red wine spills…
