ANTIQUE BUYING TRIP

BONJOUR!

Mr. FrenchGardenHouse and I are on the road to gather a truck load of French Country Antiques!

I hope to come back home with the most incredible

French Country antiques for your home and garden next week.

Even though we have shipments arriving on the daily from Europe,

and we’ve found French enamelware, French Country accents, linens and antique porcelain

on our last European trip, there is always room for more!

Because…..S P R I N G is a great time to refresh our homes.

Our buying  trips are always filled with that open-ended sense of discovery

and the thrill of the hard-won find!

We are shopping some of our favorite markets, little towns, and shops and dealers.

To bring it all back to you!

I’m packing light, a few outfits, a few cashmere shawls, my favorite

Attilio Giusti Leombruni flats and a leopard belt. Because #leopard makes everything look chic.

During these trips – which, even though it sounds like all fun {and it IS}

can be exhausting…..we are taking time to smell the roses!

Since business travel is a part of our antique business, we try to add days onto each business trip for fun.

We will visit some wineries.

{note to personal friends and others who know me-

stop laughing! I know I can only drink 1/2 a glass of wine.}

We will be returning with one-of-a-kind antique decor accents curated to give your home style,

the home of a confident individualist.

Along with stories shared on the road.

The dealers I know and love.  The discovery of thrilling finds from long ago.

The funny {an not so funny!} incidents that happen at antique shows and flea markets.

Like that time another buyer literally pushed me – hard –

out of the way to buy a piece of enamelware, not knowing that I had already struck a deal with the seller

to buy all of his French enamelware.

{insert rude, cursing “pusher” here…with not an apology to be heard. }

I’ve said this before: On any buying trip, I take all of you with me.

I know you want to find decorative accents to fill your home with your personality, antiques with quality.

Maybe a little quirky and out of the ordinary, personal and worldly mementoes of who you are.

Well traveled. Well-read. Someone who has a curiosity about the world, who wants to build a warm,

welcoming but most of all interesting and beautiful home which tells your story.

See you soon!

à bientôt

  3. Hi, Lidy, and greetings to Mr. FGH!
    Loved your article and how you put your FGH logo on the hot air ballon flag in the print. Wonderful detail!
    Have a fabulous time and safe travels to you both!

    Lidy, you’re living my dream! Enjoy the hunt for all things French Garden House charming.Looking forward to your finds! =)

  8. You have a beautiful selection of antiques in your shop and it’s not hard to figure out that you put in a lot of time, traveling, and love into your search to find the best. I’m glad you are interspersing your work with pleasure. I like going to vineyards also…however I only like white, fruity wine. I can barely sip the reds so it’s not really an entertaining tour for me as others!

    Enjoy your trip!

  9. I wish I’d known this before — I would have connected you with my American friend Jerry who has lived in Paris since the 1990s and collected an enormous amount of things that I’m thinking he may be considering parting with. His taste is impeccable. Alas. Perhaps on another buying trip — I know you will have your plate full with this one and I’ll look forward to seeing some fave finds!

  10. Have a wonderful holiday, Lidy and Hubby!!! Looking forward to your posts from France and surrounds. Would love to request a beautiful Louis XV headboard or one with rattan… someday! <3 I have the same problem ~ I've lost my phone, twice, because I can drink about 1/2 oz. of anything, Lol! My husband says I am a cheap date. 😉

    Happy Mother's Day to you,
    Barb 🙂

  11. So exciting!! …. And especially excited for you!! A long time coming. Great to visit favorite places, food and cherished friends ?. Can’t wait to see!!!!!
